My family and I just spent five magical days in beautiful Island Park, Idaho. We stayed at a friend’s cabin and had the best time playing games, exploring nearby Yellowstone Park, eating lots of yummy food, and relaxing. It was just what we all needed because we have been so busy since school started. It was so gorgeous at our cabin and the surrounding areas but very COLD! The highs were in the mid 40s and the lows in the 20s. We even got caught in a snowstorm when we were in Yellowstone. It was the best! One of the reasons I was so happy about the cold was that it gave me the perfect excuse to test out my recipe for Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate.

I had been thinking of making Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate for weeks and had all the ingredients written down but hadn’t formed the recipe yet. I brought everything with me and tested it out after a cold day of exploring. It only takes 15-20 to make it which is helpful when you have freezing cold kids who are waiting for it!

The recipes I have always found for similar drinks use white chocolate with the pumpkin. I am a huge fan of pumpkin and chocolate together and wanted to try it out in a hot chocolate. My family and I loved it so much! This drink has the perfect amount of sweetness that combines so well with the pumpkin puree and pumpkin pie spice. My husband said it tasted like drinking pumpkin chocolate chip bread!

As the days get colder, I hope you take the time to make this tasty, simple Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate. Drink it while cozying up to the ones you love! If you have teenagers like I do, maybe you’ll even get a hug when you serve this up! It’s always worth a try…
